Standing Together

I don’t know about you, but we are ready to get back on the field, after a much needed bye week.  Unfortunately, due to Hurricane Irma, we weren’t able to practice on Monday and Tuesday during the bye week, but we did get some good work in on Wednesday and Thursday.  Since we didn’t have an opponent to prepare for last week, we spent a lot of time just trying to improve on some of the basic fundamentals of each side of the ball.  At this point, we have to get better at some fundamentals if we are going to make progress throughout the rest of the year.

While the Varsity had a bye week last week, our Freshman and Junior Varsity teams both played at Lassiter, last Thursday night.  Our Freshman lost on a 30+ yard field goal as time ran off the clock.  It was a tough loss for them.  However, our JV team played a GREAT game from start to finish.  They had to fend off a late rally from Lassiter, and did just that.  In the end, it was great to get a win and see the guys that bust their tail week to week helping the Varsity prepare for their opponent, come out on top two times in their first 3 games.  Our coaching staff loves this JV squad and appreciates all they do for our program.

This week, we will play our last non-region game before starting region play next Friday night.  Tomorrow night we travel to North Paulding High School.  North Paulding is 4-0 this year, and they are extremely impressive on both sides of the ball.  They have scored a lot of points and have been playing excellent defense up to this point in the year.  Friday night’s game will be a tremendous challenge for our program, but just like always, we will embrace the challenge and fight until the very last whistle.

We know many of you will be making your way back from vacationing during Fall Break.  However, we welcome and thank any of you who choose to make the trip to support us.  Know I appreciate each and every one of you and your support during the first part of our schedule.  It’s been a tough road to hoe, but I know beyond a shadow of a doubt our guys have learned from this and will get better each and every week.  You can BELIEVE in these guys, because no matter what they stay TOGETHER for one reason and one reason alone; their BROTHERHOOD!
